DescriptionThe whole story▼
A circuit day on an R1M involves more slow riding than most people expect: the queue at the pit exit, the crawl back to the garage after the chequered flag, the walking-pace ride through a crowded paddock. In all of those moments the clutch is doing the work. The Accossato ESV04A is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the R1M of 2015 to 2024, with an adjustable distance to the grip and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the R1M, listed 2015 to 2024
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Adjuster for the distance to the grip
- Short, standard or long blade; standard about 138 mm
- Machined aluminium with anodised finish
- Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
- Fixed construction, no hinge
- Comes boxed by Accossato
Construction and Material Quality
The ESV04A is cut from aluminium by CNC machines and anodised, black at the hub and coloured along the blade. Machining gives a precise pivot bore, and anodising a hard-wearing surface for a part that is handled constantly in the pit garage, by gloved hands and by mechanics alike. The lever is not hinged. From the pivot to the tip it is a single fixed piece, so the engagement point stays where you set it, session after session.
Pit Lane Discipline
Pit lanes have rules, and most of them are about low speed. There is a speed limit, a light or a marshal at the exit, and usually a queue of bikes waiting to join the track. Rolling up to the exit, stopping and then pulling away cleanly when the light turns green is all clutch work, done on cold tyres and with a hot engine. A lever that sits right under your fingers makes those moments calmer. Set the reach of the ESV04A so that you can hold the friction point without effort, and the bike can be moved a metre at a time without stalling or lurching. The same applies at the end of a session, when you come in with tired arms and have to thread the R1M back through the paddock among people, stands and trolleys. The standard blade is a sound choice for this kind of work; the short one is for riders who use two fingers on the clutch everywhere and accept a firmer pull. Whatever the length, check the free play after fitting, so that the clutch engages exactly where you expect when the pit exit light changes.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESV04A appears on Accossato's list for the R1M from 2015 to 2024 and takes the place of the original lever at the clutch mounting. The brake lever Accossato lists for the R1M is the EDR015, for 2015 to 2021, so a matching pair in one colour is possible for those years. Owners of a standard R1 should check its separate listing, because from 2022 Accossato gives the standard bike a different clutch lever.
Road Approval
The ESV04A is offered for the race track; no German ABE is documented for it.
