DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders returning to motorcycling after a long break often look at a big GS: upright, comfortable and forgiving on imperfect roads. What tends to feel unfamiliar is not the size of the BMW R 1250 GS but the fine control it asks of the left hand, in car parks, at junctions and when pulling away on a slope. The Accossato ESC075, an aluminium clutch lever for the R 1250 GS of 2019, can be set to your hand, which makes that relearning easier.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the BMW R 1250 GS, 2019
- Mounts in place of the original lever
- Distance to the grip adjustable by the pivot
- Standard length in all colours; short in blue, gold and green; long in blue, green and orange
- Machined from solid aluminium and anodised
- Hub black on every lever; seven blade colours
- Fixed blade with no folding joint
- Track use; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
The ESC075 is milled on CNC machines from a solid aluminium blank and then anodised, which gives the blade its colour and the hub its black finish. On the R 1250 GS it takes the place of the original lever at the clutch mounting. The hub is where the adjustment happens: it holds the pivot and the adjuster that sets the blade's distance from the grip. The blade itself is a single rigid piece. Anodised aluminium does not depend on paint for its colour, so the lever keeps a uniform surface after seasons of gloves, rain and dust.
Coming Back to Riding
After years away, the clutch is often the control that needs the most relearning. Throttle and brakes come back quickly, but finding the friction point smoothly, holding it in a slow turn and releasing it on a hill start take practice, particularly on a tall, heavy motorcycle. A lever set to your hand makes that practice easier. Adjust the blade so your fingers reach it comfortably, then spend some time in an empty car park on the R 1250 GS: slow figures of eight, stops and starts, and a few pull-aways on a gentle slope.
The long blade, available in blue, green and orange, reduces the effort of each pull thanks to its extra leverage, which helps while the hand builds up stamina again. The short blade, in blue, gold and green, suits riders who already use two fingers on the clutch. The remaining colours, black, red and silver, are made only in the standard length, the nearest match to the lever BMW fitted.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names the ESC075 for the R 1250 GS of 2019, and later model years are not on its list. For the brake side, the EDB077 is listed for the same two years; the two levers share the black hub and the colour range, so they can be ordered as a matching pair. The R 1250 GS Adventure appears separately with its own listing.
Road Approval
This clutch lever carries no documented German ABE and is supplied for track use.
