Choosing the P14 over the woven element listed for the same case means accepting a lower flow figure. That is the entire cost of the medium, printed openly, and the six machines sharing this airbox do not carry it equally. Sprint Filter numbers its elements after the housing, and this housing had to be specified around the largest engine on the list. The ZT 125-G1 sits at the opposite end of that spread, asking less of the fabric every minute than anything else the code covers, which makes it the machine that misses the surrendered litres least.
Key Features
- Dry special nonwoven medium, rated at 14 microns of filtration
- Flow of 1,800 l/m²/sec, against 5,050 for the woven element offered in the identical case
- Around twice the filtering area of an ordinary performance filter, folded into the standard housing
- Takes the place of the series paper panel with nothing cut, no adaptor and no remap
- Dry through manufacture and dry in service: no oil is applied and none is ever added
- Blown clean and refitted for as long as the machine runs, with two years of warranty from purchase
Who pays for the finer mat
Air demand follows displacement, and the opening in the case does not change from one model to the next. A 200 draws more litres a minute through that opening than a 125 does, so the two machines spend the medium differently: at the top of the list the rated flow is being drawn on properly, at the bottom a good deal of it is simply held in reserve. The gap between 1,800 and 5,050 is real either way. It is just that on this machine it is taken out of the part of the range that was never going to be used.
What the trade is not
It is not an upgrade path and it is not a power part. Output on a machine homologated into the A1 licence class is fixed by its type approval rather than by anything inside the airbox, and no slot-in element makes a production motorcycle noticeably faster in any case — this one gives intake headroom away on purpose. What is bought instead is a finer specification between the road and the inlet tract, plus a restriction with a floor under it: blown through, the element returns to where it began rather than climbing quietly until somebody throws it out.
Care and cleaning
Servicing is short. Hold an air line to the clean face and work outwards, so the load leaves along the route it came in by. A deposit that has gone greasy rather than powdery lifts with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent; rinse until nothing further washes out. Drying happens in moving air at room temperature and nowhere else — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and the SM276P14 goes back into the case dry, with nothing applied to it. The maintenance sheet is filed in the Downloads tab of this page.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the Zontes ZT 125-G1 of 2020 to 2026. Five further Zontes models of 125, 155 and 200 cm³ are built around the same case and take the same element, six catalogue entries in all. Order by the code and the year in your registration document rather than by the lettering on the panels.
