An intake tucked behind a side panel takes air that has already slowed, turned a corner or two and dropped part of its load. On this motorcycle the element is first in the path and the only thing between the road ahead and the throttle bodies, which is the argument for 14 microns rather than 80. Greasy build-up comes away with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then a thorough rinse. Drying happens in circulating air at room temperature only, since heat of any kind destroys the material, and the PM160P14 goes back in dry and untreated.
