A 125 is the exception. Keeping station on a fast road means holding it against the stop for minutes together, with the engine working near the top of its range, and of everything on this fitment list the 125 Duke is the machine whose rider asks the intake for all of it most often. That is a real argument for the widest weave in the range, and it has a hard limit.

Key Features

Racing weave in dry polyester: 85 microns of filtration, 15,000 l/m²/sec of flow

Roughly three times the rate of the standard cloth for a given area of medium

No oil at any point, so nothing can be drawn forward onto the throttle body

Enters the 2024-on airbox as supplied — no cutting, no packers, no remapping

Regenerated with compressed air rather than replaced at an interval

Two years of warranty from the date of purchase

The one machine here that runs at the stop

Small engines are ridden differently, and not by choice. Traffic sets a pace that a 125 can only hold with everything open, which is why riders of these bikes notice things that owners of larger machines never meet. If a filter's rated passage is ever going to be called on by a road bike, this is the road bike that calls on it, and the racing cloth is the material Sprint Filter draws for that end of the scale.

Where the argument stops

It stops at the licence. An A1 machine has its output written into the category and the engine built to meet it, so there is nothing in the intake for a wider weave to release. No drop-in element makes a standard motorcycle quicker, and this page will not pretend otherwise. The trade is also worth stating in the other direction: 85 microns is a wider opening than the standard cloth's 80, so what is bought with rate is paid with retention. Riders whose complaint is dust rather than pace want the fine nonwoven at 14 microns instead, and it costs a fraction of this one.

Care and cleaning

Take the PM293S F1-85 out, hold an air line to the clean side and drive the jet outward through the weave until it stops releasing anything. That handles nearly every service and consumes nothing. For the rest there is hand-warm water with a mild detergent, followed by rinsing for as long as the water keeps discolouring. Drying happens in moving air alone — heat destroys the cloth, so radiators, hot-air guns and flames are all out — and the element is refitted dry, with nothing applied to it. Seven entries across the current KTM and Husqvarna singles carry this code, all named in the Fitment tab. An older Sprint Filter listing for the 125 Duke reaches into these years as well, so confirm the build year and the housing before ordering instead of going by the model name.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/PM293S-F1-85_5aec07d8-41e3-465c-bc03-f8635321f76e.png?v=1787147004
