It is the sensible middle ground: not the six-shell extravagance of a race helmet, and a long way from the one-size-fits-all moulding that makes small helmets look inflated and heavy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout the Boho White\/Black\/Pink finish\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe design fills the sides with fine ornamental detail instead of the usual three big panels, which is why it holds up at close range where simpler graphics look flat. Pink and bronze on white keep it warm rather than loud, with black used only to anchor the edges. The gloss lacquer is doing real work: at this level of detail a matt coat would swallow the finer elements. It is the least motorcycle-looking helmet LS2 sells, and for a lot of riders that is exactly the point.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eAir in at the chin and the crown\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAir comes in at both ends. A chin intake feeds the visor and your face; a crown intake feeds channels moulded through the polystyrene itself, so the flow reaches your scalp instead of stalling under the shell. Rear extractors pull the warm air out, and a breath deflector behind the chin bar keeps exhaled air off the screen.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eSeeing out\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou look out through a hardcoated, UV-resistant screen with a twin-injection seal running round its edge. Seven replacement visors are available for this shell, from clear through to iridium, and changing one takes about a minute at the roadside.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe visor comes Pinlock-ready rather than Pinlock-equipped. Impact points went from five to as many as eighteen. Testing gained a second, lower speed, because a helmet that performs at 8 m\/s does not automatically perform at 6. And an oblique test was added: the shell is dropped onto an angled abrasive anvil while instruments measure rotational acceleration against the Brain Injury Criterion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEverything fitted to the helmet is tested as fitted — visor, sun visor, vent covers. The Rapid III is a compact, plainly shaped shell with no sun-visor housing bulking out the sides, which helps — but it is a 99-euro helmet and it does not pretend to be a quiet one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe rest is not the helmet's doing. A tall screen that pushes dirty air straight at your head will make any lid loud, and a naked bike at 130 km\/h will beat the best-sealed helmet on the market.
