DescriptionThe whole story▼
This one is easy to order incorrectly, so it is worth being blunt about it: this guard is cut for the Termignoni silencer, not the standard Ducati one. The two have different diameters and different mounting positions, and a shield made for one will not sit on the other. If your DesertX still wears the original exhaust, the part you want is MD-DX22-C61.
Key Features
- Shaped specifically for the Termignoni silencer fitted to the DesertX — not interchangeable with the OEM exhaust shield
- Keeps radiated heat off the rider's leg and off soft luggage on a loaded bike
- Autoclave carbon that holds its curvature at silencer skin temperature
- Mounts on the Termignoni clamp positions, so no additional brackets are needed
- Four finishes, each with its own order code
Why a Second Part Exists at All
Aftermarket silencers are rarely a like-for-like swap in profile. A Termignoni can is a different shape along its length, sits at a slightly different angle, and carries its clamps in different places. Fullsix therefore tools a separate shield rather than trying to make one panel span both. The upside for the owner is a shield that follows the can closely and keeps a consistent air gap; the downside is one more thing to check before ordering.
The heat argument is the same as on the standard shield: the carbon blocks radiation, and the gap between shield and can does the rest. What changes is only the geometry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati DesertX, 2022 to 2026, fitted with the Termignoni silencer. Does not fit the standard Ducati exhaust. Confirm which silencer is on the bike before ordering — this is the most common mistake on this part.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval is published by Fullsix for this guard. Note separately that the legality of the Termignoni silencer itself is a question about the exhaust, not about this carbon cover.
How to Tell Which Silencer You Have
If the DesertX was bought new and nothing has been changed, it has the standard Ducati silencer and this is the wrong part — order MD-DX22-C61 instead. A Termignoni can is usually identifiable by the etched or riveted Termignoni logo on the outer sleeve, a visibly different outlet profile, and a shorter body than the original.
The safest check is the invoice or the accessory list from the dealer, because a Termignoni fitted as a factory option will appear there. If the bike came second-hand with no history, photograph the silencer from the side and compare it against the Ducati accessory catalogue before ordering — a shield built for the wrong can cannot be persuaded to fit.
