DescriptionThe whole story▼
A bare carbon tail is not something anyone sits on for twenty minutes. FM2210K is the entry point into Carbonin's three-level foam range: a neoprene cover on an Avio Fiber mounting plate, available in 10 mm or 15 mm, and nothing beyond that.
Key Features
- Neoprene cover chosen for low weight and grip against leathers
- Avio Fiber mounting plate, the same base used across the range
- Two cover thicknesses, 10 mm and 15 mm
- No embroidery and no dimensional customisation at this level
- Bolts onto the CK22300 race seat unit
What 10 mm Versus 15 mm Changes
The thinner cover keeps the rider marginally lower and gives a more direct sense of what the rear of the machine is doing; the thicker one takes more of the edge out of kerbs and long stints. It is not a comfort decision so much as a feedback one, and riders tend to settle on a preference and stay with it. Both use the same plate, so switching later is a matter of the cover rather than the whole unit.
Looking After Neoprene
The cover is the part that wears out, not the plate underneath it. Neoprene dislikes two things in particular: solvents, which harden it, and being left wet in a closed van, which is how a foam arrives at the next round smelling of a swamp. Warm water, mild soap and air drying are the whole maintenance routine. When the grip finally goes off after a couple of seasons, the plate is still good and only the cover needs replacing.
Where This Level Fits
BASIC is the right choice when the foam is a functional item rather than part of the bike's presentation: a track-day machine, a spare tail kept made up in the van, or a first season where the money is better spent elsewhere. The STANDARD unit FM2250K adds a more durable textile cover with more grip and Carbonin embroidery; the PROFESSIONAL unit FM2260K adds custom length, thickness and back support. All three mount identically.
