DescriptionThe whole story▼

The second-generation KTM 390 Duke arrived for 2017 with a colour TFT display, an LED headlight and sharper bodywork, and it is a familiar A2 bike at track days. Many of its riders arrive alone: one bike in a van or on a trailer, one person to unload it, set up the paddock, ride, refuel and pack up again at the end. The FC127 from Accossato is the cap for the 390 Duke from 2017 to 2021, machined from solid aluminium, its quick-closing pawl carrying a pin in one of six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the KTM 390 Duke, 2017 to 2021
  • Entirely CNC-machined aluminium
  • Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
  • Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Pawl sold separately as a replacement part
  • Robust and durable according to Accossato; new design
  • No German ABE documented; for the track

Construction and Material Quality

The FC127 is machined on CNC equipment from aluminium, with no other material in its body, and Accossato describes it as robust and durable, with a fresh design. A quick-closing pawl opens the tank of the 390 Duke quickly and shuts it again in moments, which counts when you are doing every job yourself, and the pin on that pawl can be one of six colours. Accossato sells the pawl separately, so a damaged one is replaced without buying a new cap.

A Pit Crew of One

Riding a track day on your own is entirely possible, but it needs a plan, because nobody will remind you of anything. Set up the paddock so that the jobs follow each other: bike on its stands in the middle, tools on one side, fuel can on the other, closed and in the shade, a chair and water within reach. After each session the order is always the same. Switch off, bike on the stands, gloves off. Drink first, then check the tyre pressures while the tyres are still warm. Refuel the 390 Duke only after the engine has had a few minutes to cool, pour through a funnel, close the pawl and check the cap with your hand. Finally, write down what you added and what you changed. A fixed routine means you do not have to think in the short gaps between sessions, and it leaves room to think about the riding. At the end of the day, pack the fuel can last and keep it upright.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the FC127 for the Duke 390 from 2017 to 2021, the years this product covers. Other model years of the 390 Duke are not part of this entry, so check your bike's year before ordering. The 125 Duke, the 250 Duke and the RC 390R appear in our shop with the same cap.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no parts certificate are on record for the FC127, so we supply it for track use. The 390 Duke's factory cap normally locks with the ignition key, and that is the cap for public roads.
