DescriptionThe whole story▼
A small single-cylinder engine has to be kept spinning, and on the RC 125 that means the gearbox is in use almost constantly: up through the gears on every straight, down again for every bend and every junction. For each of those changes the left hand pulls and releases the clutch, often hundreds of times on a single ride. With its adjustable reach, Accossato's ESK390 for the RC 125 of 2014 to 2018 lets each of those pulls start from a comfortable finger position.

Construction and Material Quality
Thousands of gear changes a season put a clutch lever through more cycles than almost any other control on the bike. The ESK390 is cut from aluminium on CNC machines and given a two-tone anodised finish: a black hub with the pivot and the reach adjustment inside it, and a blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. That blade is rigid and joined to the hub without any folding joint, so every pull is transmitted in full and the lever comes back to the same resting position after each change. On the RC 125, that consistency is what lets the hand do its work without the rider having to think about it.
Many Changes, Light Work
A small engine makes its power high in the rev range, and staying there is how the RC 125 keeps pace with traffic and climbs hills without fading. It means changing down earlier than on a bigger bike and changing up again soon after, with the clutch in play each time. Short, quick pulls are the key. For most changes the lever only needs to come in far enough to free the gear, not all the way to the grip, and it should be let out briskly but smoothly so that the engine picks up without a jerk. That is much easier if the lever sits close enough for your fingers to hook it without opening wide. Set the ESK390 so the blade meets the middle of your fingers, and check that a short pull is enough to change gear cleanly. The long blade reduces the effort for riders with less hand strength; the short one suits riders who keep two fingers on the clutch at all times. Either way, a light, practised action saves energy on longer rides and keeps the RC 125 in its stride.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's listing for the ESK390 on the RC 125 spans 2014 to 2018, at the clutch mounting fitted by KTM. The EDF039 brake lever is listed for the RC 125 over a longer span, 2014 to 2021, and shares hub, colours and lengths with the clutch lever.
Road Approval
Accossato's documentation includes no German ABE for this clutch lever, and it is sold for track use.
