DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kawasaki's racing colours are among the most recognisable in motorcycling, and the Ninja 650 has worn them as the KRT Edition, which Accossato lists for 2019. The sporty parallel twin, built from 2017 as the successor to the ER-6f and known by the model code EX650, is a bike that many owners like to personalise. The brake lever is an easy place to start. Accossato's EDF021, milled from aluminium for the Ninja 650 of 2017 to 2024, has an adjustable reach and a blade anodised in one of seven colours, green among them.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Kawasaki Ninja 650 (EX650), 2017 to 2024
- Blade in green, black, blue, red, orange, gold or silver; hub always black
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; short and long blades in selected colours
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Machined from aluminium and anodised
- Rigid construction, no hinge
Construction and Material Quality
A colour is only worth choosing if it lasts, which is why Accossato anodises the EDF021 rather than painting it. After the lever has been machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, its surface is converted into an oxide layer that takes up the dye, so the colour becomes part of the metal and does not flake at the edges. Accossato keeps the hub black on every lever, the part that holds the pivot and the reach adjuster, and colours only the blade. That arrangement lets a bright blade sit next to black switchgear without looking out of place. The blade itself is fixed, with no folding joint between hub and tip.
Matching the Paint
The Ninja 650 has been sold in several colour schemes over the years, and the brake lever can pick up any of them if you want it to. On a KRT Edition, or any Ninja 650 in Kawasaki green, a green blade echoes the bodywork and makes the cockpit look finished rather than accessorised. On a black bike, a black blade keeps things discreet, while a single accent in orange, red or blue gives a dark machine a focal point. Silver and gold are quieter choices that work on lighter paint. Deciding on the length at the same moment saves disappointment, because not every colour is made in every length: green, blue, gold and orange come short, standard and long; silver comes short and standard; black and red are standard only. For mixed road riding on a Ninja 650 the standard blade is the natural starting point, the short one suits two-finger braking on track days, and the long one gives four fingers room.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names the EDF021 for the Ninja 650 from 2017 to 2024, including the Special Edition of 2017 and 2018 and the KRT Edition of 2019. It replaces the original blade on the Kawasaki master cylinder. For the clutch side, Accossato's ESK750 is listed for the Ninja 650 from 2017 to 2020, catalogued there under the older ER-6F name.
Road Approval
Ninja 650 owners should note that the EDF021 carries no documented German ABE, which limits its sale to track use.
