DescriptionThe whole story

Long-distance riding turns brake consistency into a comfort feature. On this machine the reference is the T004, 71.5 mm of friction face in the Tokico caliper. EXR is the endurance-grade mixture, reworked for progression, and the T004 is its shape here.

Key Features

  • The T004 shape also serves 18 further machines in the ZCOO 2026 catalogue, so availability stays good
  • No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this compound - treat the T004 as a track and competition part
  • The friction blocks are separated so the T004 material can expand into the gaps rather than against itself
  • The T004 is made by Okada Corporation in Japan, the manufacturer behind ZCOO's endurance-racing programme
  • Supplied as a pack of two - the exact set the Tokico caliper of the VERSYS 1000 S takes
  • Sized for the braking energy a 1043 cc machine generates, not scaled down from a larger reference

Construction and Material Quality

What sits behind the friction material on a T004 matters as much as the mixture itself. The ceramic content is what lets the T004 form a protective film on a VERSYS 1000 S disc instead of abrading it. For the rider of a VERSYS 1000 S the whole of that engineering shows up as one thing: a lever that means the same on the last stop as on the first.

Performance and Feel

EXR's headline claim is specific: up to twenty percent more braking force in the second phase of braking. That is the part of the zone where the pad has already absorbed most of its heat and the rider is still adjusting. Which is why the T004 suits the VERSYS 1000 S better than a pure sprint compound would.

Fitment and Compatibility

The 2026 listing puts the T004 on the Kawasaki VERSYS 1000 S for the 2021 to 2024 model years. The T004 fits the front axle of the VERSYS 1000 S and nothing else. The same T004 shape covers 18 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 71.5 mm length and 50.0 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
