The Super Duke GT is the Super Duke with somewhere to be. Screen, panniers, a fuel range that assumes you intend to use it — this is a motorcycle bought by people who cross countries on motorways rather than lapping a favourite road on a Sunday. That usage pattern is unusual in one specific respect: the engine spends most of its working life at a constant, moderately high load, for hours without variation.

Constant load is quietly the hardest case

Riders tend to assume that hard use means high revs, but from the intake's point of view a steady 130 km/h for four hours is a more demanding brief than a short, enthusiastic ride. The airflow is continuous and the volume passing through the element over a long day is very large. Whatever is in that air — road dust, brake dust, the fine grit that lives in the slipstream of traffic — arrives at the filter in proportion to volume, not to how exciting the ride was. Touring mileage loads an air filter faster than the odometer suggests, and it does it without any of the signals that usually prompt a rider to check something.

Twice the surface, and a way to reset it

Two properties of the P08 PM155S address this directly. The first is area: roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance elements in the same airbox, which means the same quantity of dust produces a smaller rise in restriction. The second is that the rise is reversible. Compressed air from the clean side, outwards, returns the element to where it started — no oiling step, nothing to re-apply, no spare to carry across a border. For a motorcycle whose whole purpose is not stopping, that is the right kind of service item.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and let it dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame.
