Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak (2018–2020) PM127S

The 1260 Pikes Peak is the Multistrada that stopped pretending to be an adventure bike. Öhlins at both ends, a seventeen-inch front, a carbon front mudguard — it is a sports tourer wearing the wrong badge, and it gets ridden accordingly: hard, on good roads, with the throttle used rather than held. That is transient work, and transients are where intake restriction is felt rather than measured. The Sprint Filter P08 PM127S is a dry polyester element with roughly double the filtering surface, and it earns its keep on exactly that kind of ride.

Why the roll-on is the test

Open the throttle out of a corner and the engine asks for a step change in airflow. The intake either supplies it promptly or lags, and because the pressure drop across a filter rises with flow, a partly loaded element costs most at precisely that moment. The engine management meters fuel to the air that actually arrives, so nothing feels faulty — the drive simply softens by an amount that is hard to name and easy to feel. Twice the filtering surface is what keeps the intake out of the way when you ask for everything.

A bike ridden on the good days

Bikes like this cover fewer kilometres than a commuter and spend more of each one at high load, which is a duty cycle that hides a loading filter well. The odometer says the service is not due; the riding says otherwise. An element that can be cleaned and returned to its starting restriction sidesteps the argument entirely.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry.
