The title of this listing says Racing, and the cloth inside it is the one Sprint Filter draws for wet and demanding conditions. Both descriptions are accurate, and they come from different places: the purpose in the title follows the build, while the 37 µm weave follows the weather. Nobody should reach this page expecting the first and discover the second once the airbox is open, so here it is in one line — this is the water-repellent medium, offered in a race assembly.
Key Features
- 37 µm dry polyester with water-repellent behaviour, rated at 4,500 l/m²/sec
- A filtering surface gain of +210 % is recorded for this assembly in the catalogue
- 91.8 % retention on 37-micron particles in the manufacturer's measurement
- Race build without the carbon fibre frame that the WorldSBK version uses
- Oil-free from new, so nothing can be carried downstream onto the sensors of a V2 955
- Direct exchange for the factory panel, with two years of warranty from purchase
Two labels on one component
The purpose line is derived from the build, and the build here is a race assembly, which is where the word Racing comes from. The medium was a separate decision taken by whoever specified the part. Read the two apart and the listing makes sense: race-grade construction wrapped around the range's weather cloth, sold to riders who want the second and will pay for the first. Read them together and it looks like a promise about speed, which is exactly what it is not. The V2 955 gains no measurable power from any of this, and none is claimed.
Ordering the right one of the two
Two Avio assemblies exist for this airbox and they differ only in the cloth, so the part number is what distinguishes them rather than anything on the outside. R127S-WP-AVIO is the 37 µm water-repellent one. Its sibling carries the 85 µm racing weave and a far higher published rate. Neither is an upgrade on the other: a tighter weave holds more material back and passes less air, a looser one does the reverse, and the range is laid out along that trade instead of up a ladder. Pick the end of the trade that matches the riding, then order by the number.
Care and cleaning
Blow it out from the clean side with compressed air and most of the time that is the end of it. Where a wet ride has left something the air will not shift, warm water and a mild detergent will, followed by a rinse that carries on until the water is clear. Drying asks for patience: leave it in moving air, give it hours rather than minutes, and keep it away from every warm surface in the garage, because heat is what ends a polyester cloth. Refit dry, with nothing applied. Downloads has the sheet.
Fitment & Compatibility
Specified against the airbox of the Ducati Panigale V2 955, listed under model years 2020 to 2024. Five more Ducatis carry the same part — the Streetfighter V2 955, the 899, the 959, the 1199 and the 1299 — each with its own year window in the Fitment tab.
