DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Öhlins FFX 2201 exists because the KTM 300 XC (2017–2026) needed its own settings, not a shared set. A complete fork removes every compromise the standard assembly was designed around.
Key Features
- Ships with spring 02428-47
- Öhlins fits a 4,7 N/mm spring to this application
- Bolts to the KTM 300 XC (2017–2026) using the standard mounting points
- 297 mm working stroke
Fitted to the 300 XC
Öhlins covers the 10-year production run of this generation with a single part number, which means the mounting and the linkage stayed unchanged across it. An enduro bike is ridden slowly far more often than quickly, and the damping that matters most is the damping at low shaft speed. The 300 cc engine sets how quickly weight transfers, and damping has to be matched to that rather than to a class average.
Construction and Material Quality
Öhlins manufactures in Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm, and assembles and tests every unit there before it ships. Production has stayed in Sweden since the company was founded in 1976. Fork springs are separate catalogue items and can be changed without dismantling the cartridge.
Damping and Adjustment
Rate as supplied is 4,7 N/mm, matched by Öhlins to this machine rather than to the platform. Öhlins supplies spring 02428-47 with this unit. At 950 mm it matches the standard unit's installed length exactly. Fill specification is 1330, which is part of the setting rather than a detail. Preload is adjusted separately from damping, and the two should not be confused. Each function has its own adjuster, which is what allows one change to be judged honestly.
About the RXF 48 S Range
Air forks need a pressure check before every ride, and the RXF 48 S removes that step entirely. Öhlins built the RXF 48 for off-road racing: 48 mm tubes, separate compression and rebound adjustment, and in the S specification a coil spring rather than an air chamber. The coil holds its rate as the fork heats and needs no pressure check between motos.
Fitment and Compatibility
The fitment stated here is the KTM 300 XC in its 2017–2026 form, under Öhlins part number FFX 2201. Öhlins releases the same number for 33 closely related machines; this listing is the KTM 300 XC version of that fitment. Öhlins notes for this application: 08765- spring series *Replaces FFX 1201*
Road Approval

Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so the installation does not have to be your problem: we fit and set up Öhlins components in our own workshop. Ask us when you order and we will include the work.
