DescriptionThe whole story▼
The MT-07 is the most modified bike in Yamaha's range and the default machine for European stunt riding, where an intervening ABS system makes a rolling stoppie impossible to hold. JP ABSY 007 is what allows the unit to come off.
Key Features
- For the Yamaha MT-07, 2014–2024
- Simulates the ABS module
- No ABS lamp and no stored fault code
- Plug-and-play on the factory connector
- Shared part number across the CP2 family
- Standard unit refits at any time
The Stunt Case
This is the honest reason most of these are sold. A modern ABS system reads a front wheel that has stopped turning as a wheel about to lock, and releases pressure — which is exactly correct on the road and exactly wrong when the rider is deliberately balancing on the front wheel. There is no setting that distinguishes the two, so the system comes out.
What Else Comes With It
Removing the pump means shortening or replacing brake lines, and that is work that must be done properly. A stunt bike is ridden at the limit of front-wheel grip constantly; a badly bled brake or a line rubbing on a fork leg is not a small mistake on that machine. Plan the hydraulics before ordering the eliminator.
One Number, Three Bikes
Yamaha uses the same ABS arrangement across the MT-07, the Tracer 7 and the XSR700. The same part covers all three, which is worth knowing if a workshop sees a mix of the CP2 family.
Fitment
- Yamaha MT-07 (2014–2024)
Road Approval
None, and the consequence is heavier than for anything else in this range. Since 1 January 2016 no new motorcycle over 125 cc has been sold in the EU without ABS, because the law does not allow it. An MT-07 with the system removed is no longer the vehicle that was approved, and cannot be ridden legally on a public road. Stunt riding belongs in a closed area, and so does this part.
