DescriptionThe whole story▼

Take a pillion over a mountain pass and the front brake learns something about its owner's optimism. A Ducati Hypermotard 950 is a supermoto at heart, tall and light on its feet, but with two people and a tail pack aboard it reaches every hairpin with more to lose than the brochure imagined. Accossato lists its AGPA177 plate for the front wheel of the 950 across 2019 to 2024, and article AGPA177ST is the Sintered face of it, credited by the maker with a grip level that stays where it is at high and low temperature.

Key Features

  • Front brake pads for the Ducati Hypermotard 950, model years 2019 to 2024
  • AGPA177ST: the Sintered (ST) compound on Accossato's AGPA177 plate
  • Maker's claim: constant grip hot or cold, and grip on a wet disc
  • For riders who load the 950 up and take it into the mountains
  • Each box is a caliper's worth of two pads, and there are two front calipers
  • EV1, EV2 and ZXC are the other faces on this plate
  • Rear pads for this Ducati: the AGPA42, 2019 to 2024
  • No German ABE recorded; supplied for track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

All the AGPA177 articles share a plate, and the compound on its face is the entire distinction. The one here is described by Accossato in terms of steadiness rather than force: high grip that does not wander as temperature rises or falls, and grip that survives water on the disc. A rider descending a long pass on a Hypermotard 950 will care most about the first half of that claim, since the fifth hairpin is where a material either holds its ground or begins asking for more lever.

Two Up Over a Pass

Hairpins in a row are a heat problem before they are a skill problem. Each one takes speed off, and the gap between them is too short for anything to recover, so a descent of twenty bends leaves the front of a Hypermotard 950 hotter than any single stop on the road ever would. Weight makes it worse, and a passenger plus luggage is a great deal of weight on a machine designed around one rider. The classic answer still stands: choose a low gear and let the engine hold the speed, use firm short applications instead of a continuous drag, and stop at the viewpoint even if you do not want the photograph. Riders who are good at this two-up also warn the passenger before they slow, which is worth more than any component.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's catalogue puts the AGPA177 at the front wheel of the Hypermotard 950 from 2019 to 2024. Two discs and two calipers work that wheel, so a full renewal needs two boxes, each holding the pair for one side. The AGPA42 is the corresponding rear pad for the same period. Should the discs also be due, the reference Accossato gives for this Ducati is the DKS053, and the RVE version of the 950 appears in the list as an entry of its own with the same pad numbers.

Road Approval

No German ABE has reached us with these pads and no other approval paper exists here, so they are catalogued for competition and closed-circuit use.

Scope of Delivery

One box with two AGPA177ST pads, the set a single front caliper of the 950 takes.
