DescriptionThe whole story▼

When Ducati enlarged the Superquadro twin for the Panigale 1299 in 2015, it created a road bike that could not race in World Superbike: the rules capped twin-cylinder engines below its capacity, so the factory team kept racing the smaller Panigale R. That left the 1299 free to be what its owners wanted, a big twin for fast roads and open track days. For its engine, Accossato lists the FP004, an oil filler cap CNC-machined from aluminium with an M20x2.5 thread and anodised in eight colours.

Key Features

  • Oil filler cap for the Ducati Panigale 1299, 2015 to 2018
  • M20x2.5 thread, per Accossato's specification
  • CNC-machined aluminium with anodised colour
  • Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
  • Adaptable to other bikes with the same cap size
  • TS003 and TS012 reservoir caps listed for the same bike
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Every FP004 starts as aluminium that Accossato shapes on CNC machines; the anodising that follows gives it one of eight colours, titanium among them. Accossato's specification is brief: the thread is M20x2.5, and the cap suits the listed applications as well as other motorcycles with the same filler size. It is worth choosing the colour with the whole Panigale 1299 in mind, since the reservoir caps Accossato makes for this bike come in the same shades apart from titanium.

Open Pit Lane, Cold Engine

Open pit lane days suit the Panigale 1299 well: no fixed sessions, the circuit open for most of the day, and riders heading out when they feel ready. The engine gets used hard on days like these, so the oil check belongs in the morning before the first run, when the twin has stood overnight and is cold. Put the bike on its stands in the pit garage or next to the van and read the level the way the owner's manual describes. If oil is needed, wipe the area round the filler first; circuits are dusty, and whatever sits on the cap as it comes off can end up inside. Keep the thread and the sealing face clean, add small amounts at a time and read the level again. The FP004 goes back in by hand and stops as soon as it seats. During the day, resist the urge to open the filler between runs, because the engine is hot and needs time to cool. A look along the engine cases for traces of oil around the filler and elsewhere is enough until the next morning. That quick look also belongs to the ride home.

Fitment and Compatibility

The FP004 is on Accossato's list for the Panigale 1299 from 2015 to 2018. Its M20x2.5 thread also lets it serve other motorcycles with the same filler size, after a comparison with the original cap. In our range the same cap is listed for the Monster 1200, the Hypermotard 950 and the Diavel. Accossato adds two more caps for the Panigale 1299, the TS003 for the front brake reservoir and the TS012 for the rear; if all three should match, choose any colour except titanium, which only the oil cap offers.

Road Approval

No ABE or test mark exists in our files for the FP004. We sell it accordingly, for racing and competition.
