DescriptionThe whole story▼
The GasGas EC 200 has always sat between two more common sizes. Its power is softer than a 250's and stronger than a 125's, which appeals to riders who spend most of their time in tight woods, where a two-stroke that is easy to manage matters more than outright speed. Accossato lists its C7284 folding clutch lever for the EC 200 of 2018 and 2019, bikes built after GasGas resumed production under new ownership. The lever is machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy and made long enough for four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the GasGas EC 200, 2018 and 2019
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Long blade for four fingers, as Accossato describes it
- Anti-break joint in Accossato's terms: the blade can fold forward in a crash
- CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Dark base, blade in black, blue or orange
- One lever
- No German ABE documented; off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Two colours meet on every C7284: the dark base, which stays on the clutch pivot, and the blade, which you choose in black, blue or orange. The two are linked by a joint on which the blade folds forward. Accossato machines both parts in Italy on CNC equipment from solid Ergal 7075, a strong aluminium alloy, aiming for a lever that combines strength with low weight and reliability. The blade has the long clutch shape, with room for four fingers, so a hard pull can be made with the whole hand.
Neither a 125 Nor a 250
Riders who choose a 200 usually know why. On a narrow, twisting trail the softer delivery is easier to control, and the engine has enough pull to hold a taller gear through a tight section without the constant revving a 125 demands. What makes it work is the clutch. A quick slip lifts the revs out of a hairpin; a longer, controlled slip lets the bike creep over a root without spinning. Much of the riding is done with fingers on the lever.
Tight woods also mean trees, and a bike that falls in a gap between two trunks tends to hit something hard on the way down. On the left, the clutch lever is often the first contact. Here the C7284's blade can fold forward on its joint rather than snap off at the tip, which may be enough to ride out of the forest with a working clutch. Nothing about it is certain, and a direct blow against a trunk can still break it. On the EC 200, a bike that lives on its clutch, that chance is worth having.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7284 for the GasGas EC 200 of model years 2018 and 2019, where it replaces the original lever at the clutch mount. It is the only folding off-road lever Accossato lists for this bike; there is no matching brake lever for the EC 200 on the list. Earlier EC 200 model years are not covered by this part, so check the year of your bike before ordering.
Road Approval
The C7284 comes without a German ABE. The EC 200 is an enduro that can be registered for the road, but with this lever it is not approved for public roads; it is intended for off-road use.
