DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tracer 9 GT was built for long days on the road, and in cities many of those days end underground. Hotels often send motorcycles into car parks below the building, with steep ramps, tight turns and a ticket barrier that stops you halfway up the slope. Those last few hundred metres are pure clutch work. The Accossato ESV04A is a CNC-machined aluminium clutch lever for the Tracer 9 GT of 2021 to 2023, with adjustable reach and a choice of blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, 2021 to 2023
- Replaces the original lever at the stock clutch mounting
- Adjustable reach to the grip
- Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm in all seven colours
- Anodised aluminium with a black hub
- No hinge: one rigid piece
- Delivered in its own Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
Rather than being cast, the ESV04A is cut from aluminium on CNC machines, which gives the pivot bore and the seat of the reach adjuster their precise shape. Anodising then colours the part in two tones, the hub in black and the blade in whichever of the seven colours you prefer. The anodised layer grows out of the aluminium surface itself, so gloves, keys and the cuffs of a touring jacket have no coating to wear through. From pivot to tip the lever is one rigid piece, without a folding joint that could add slack at the moment the clutch has to engage cleanly.
Ramps, Barriers and Hotel Garages
Underground car parks are designed for cars, and a motorcycle with side cases has to adapt. The entry ramp is often steep and curved, and the ticket barrier usually sits on the slope itself: you stop, keep the bike still with your foot on the rear brake, pull off a glove, take the ticket and then move off uphill with a loaded bike and a cold hand. Further in, the aisles are narrow and painted floors can be slippery, especially when wet tyres carry water in from the street. All of it happens at walking pace, and the clutch does most of the work. On the Tracer 9 GT, set the reach of the ESV04A so that you can hold the friction point with a relaxed hand, and check it again with the glove you pull back on in a hurry. The long blade makes a slow, even release easier, which matters on a ramp where stalling is the last thing you want. Before the barrier, stop with the bike upright and the front wheel straight, so that moving off needs nothing more than clutch, a little throttle and some patience.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato still files this bike under Tracer 900 GT, the name of its predecessor, but the years it gives, 2021 to 2023, are those of the Tracer 9 GT. The ESV04A mounts at the original clutch mounting in place of the stock lever. For the front brake of the same Tracer 9 GT, Accossato lists the EDF016, so both levers can be ordered in one colour.
Road Approval
We list the ESV04A for track use only, because no German ABE has been documented for this clutch lever.
