On this Stelvio that path leads to SM239S, and it leads to the same element for a V100 Mandello parked next to it — the two share the housing, which is a fact about the platform rather than a coincidence of naming.

The standard grade on a travelling machine

Eighty microns and 5,050 l/m²/sec place this cloth in the middle of the range, with more open material above it and closer grades below. Choosing between them is choosing where to sit on a single exchange: a closer medium holds back more of the fine fraction and passes less air, a more open one does the reverse. None of the choices adds power. A panel in an unmodified airbox leaves a series motorcycle exactly as strong as it left the factory; the benefit is a low intake resistance that a cleaning restores, on a part that is serviced rather than consumed.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air, aimed outward from the clean face, is the standard service for SM239S and takes a few minutes. Where the load has been fine or damp, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse it out thoroughly and let it dry right through in circulating air.
