DescriptionThe whole story▼
Öhlins part number 08713-90 is a pair of fork springs rated at 9.0 N/mm, 299 mm long and 26-24.5 mm inner diameter. Under braking a soft spring lets the fork run through its stroke and the geometry with it.

- Inner diameter 26-24.5 mm
How Öhlins Makes Them
The unit is rebuildable: seals, shims and oil are catalogue items, not a reason to buy a new one. The finish is applied after setting, which means the coating does not affect the rate. Öhlins winds, heat-sets and then measures every spring individually — the rate on the label is the rate you get.
Applications
Öhlins lists this spring for Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6RR (2005–2006). Öhlins names these machines because it has measured the fit — but the deciding factors remain diameter, length and rate.
Dimensions
Öhlins holds the free length at 299 mm and the inner diameter at 26-24.5 mm across this rate range, so moving up or down a rate changes nothing about the installation.
What This Rate Does
This is the middle of Öhlins' range — the rate most riders of average weight end up on once sag is set properly. A mid rate balances support under braking against compliance over the surface, which is why it is the usual starting point. Track use exposes a soft fork immediately: the bike runs out of travel before the corner does.
Fitting
Preload spacers usually need shortening or lengthening so the installed length stays correct. Any suspension workshop can fit these; the fork does not need to leave the bike for long. The fork legs come off, the springs are swapped and the oil level is reset — half a day in most workshops.
Road Approval
Road approval: ABE (Germany) for the applications Öhlins lists. The document ships with the springs, so no individual inspection is needed.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its suspension is fitted by an authorised service centre. We are one, and we do the work here: installation, servicing and a proper setup. Ask us and we will include it with the order.
