DescriptionThe whole story▼

Baggers are not only for motorway miles. A growing number of Chieftain owners ride their bikes aggressively on mountain roads and turn up at track days organised for touring machines. Accossato's AGPA38 front pad in EV1 street/track is aimed at them. It is listed for the Indian Chieftain from 2014 to 2023 and offers a sharper, stronger bite than an everyday pad while still working at the temperatures of normal road riding.

Key Features

  • EV1 street/track version of Accossato's AGPA38 front pad
  • For the Indian Chieftain, 2014 to 2023
  • Strong road grip that also suits amateur track use, per Accossato
  • For owners who ride their bagger with vigour
  • ST, EV2 and ZXC available for the same pad
  • Two pads per caliper set

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato promotes EV1 for two settings, fast road riding and amateur circuit use, and credits it with excellent grip in both. For a heavy bagger that means a pad which responds firmly without needing the heat of a race, but which also survives a few brisk laps. The compound shares the company's usual design priorities of low wear and controlled heat against fade.

Bagger With an Attitude

Some Chieftain owners fit uprated suspension, lower the bike and enjoy scraping the pegs in a sequence of bends. With a fairing and panniers adding weight, the front brake has to set up each corner firmly and precisely, and EV1 is intended to give that crisp initial response. It stays usable for the ride to and from the event. Bed the pads in with several firm but controlled stops, and when you change them look closely at the discs for uneven transfer. If the Chieftain also covers long tours, keep in mind that EV1 is tuned for a sportier rider than a pure touring pad.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA38 for the front of the Chieftain 1800 from 2014 to 2023, with the Chieftain Classic (2015 to 2018), Chieftain Dark Horse (2015 to 2023) and Chieftain Limited (2015 to 2023) sharing the reference. The rear pad for these models is AGPA81. The box contains one caliper set; count the front calipers before ordering. Clean the pistons before pushing them back.

Road Approval

No test document or German ABE is available to us for the EV1 pad; Inter-Pace offers it for circuit and competition riding.

Scope of Delivery
