DescriptionThe whole story▼
A sport tourer spends a surprising amount of its life parked: outside hotels, at viewpoints, in the car park of a beach in the south while its owner is swimming. Days of strong sun are hard on everything exposed, from seats to paint, and a coloured lever is no exception. The Accossato ESK750 is a clutch lever for the Kawasaki Z1000SX of 2017 to 2019, finished by anodising rather than paint and available in seven blade colours. It is CNC-machined from aluminium, fits the original clutch mounting and has an adjustable span.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the 2017 to 2019 Kawasaki Z1000SX
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mounting
- Span adjustable to the rider's hand
- Blade made short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long, depending on colour
- Anodised, CNC-machined aluminium
- Hub in black, blade in one of seven colours
- No hinge in the blade
Construction and Material Quality
CNC machining lets a lever be shaped for stiffness without looking bulky, and the ESK750 makes use of that: its blade keeps its form under a firm pull. The span adjuster is built into the hub close to the pivot, where a small change moves the blade tip a noticeable distance in or out. After machining the lever is anodised, black for the hub on every version and black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green for the blade. Being rigid, it has no folding joint to add free play to the clutch.
Parked in the Southern Sun
Anodised colour sits within the surface of the aluminium, so it cannot flake or peel like paint, and in normal use it stays even for years. Very strong sunlight over long periods is what can change it: dyed anodised finishes may lighten slightly after years of exposure, some shades more than others. If your Z1000SX lives outdoors in a sunny climate, a breathable cover protects the levers along with the seat and the paintwork. Heat is the other side of a southern tour. Summer gloves are thinner, and a clutch lever set for autumn gloves then sits further away than it needs to. On a hot trip, bring the ESK750 in a little so the take-up comes with the fingers comfortably curled, and turn it back out when the heavier gloves return. The long blade, made in four colours, keeps the pull light in the slow traffic on the way to the coast.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the ESK750 for the Z1000SX of 2017, 2018 and 2019. For the same motorcycle it also names the ESK828 clutch lever, with an entry covering 2011 to 2019, so for the last three model years two references appear. Compare the shape of your original lever with the photos of both before ordering. The front brake of every Z1000SX from 2011 to 2019 is served by the EDF088.
Road Approval
Accossato has no German ABE documented for the ESK750, so the lever is sold for use on the track.
