DescriptionThe whole story▼

A 600 rewards the rider who carries speed. The GSX-R600 makes its power high in the rev range and lacks the midrange of a bigger engine to rescue a corner entered too slowly, so the quick way round is to brake a little less and to release the brake well. For the GSX-R600 from 2004 to 2019, Accossato makes the EDF035, a machined aluminium brake lever for the original master cylinder with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Suzuki GSX-R600, 2004 to 2019
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Lever-to-grip distance adjustable
  • Standard blade approximately 138 mm; short and long in some colours
  • Machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
  • Blade colours: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver, green
  • Rigid, non-folding blade

Construction and Material Quality

When you ease off a brake lever, the master cylinder pushes it back against your fingers, and a lever without play follows that movement precisely. The EDF035 is built along those lines. Accossato machines it from aluminium on CNC equipment, houses the pivot and reach adjuster in a black-anodised hub and fixes the blade to it rather than hinging it. The blade is anodised in the colour you pick, which gives it a hard surface that keeps its colour through race gloves and the knocks of paddock life.

Braking Less, Releasing Better

Most riders practise braking hard. Fewer practise letting go. Yet on a GSX-R600 the release is where much of the lap time hides: as you start to turn in, brake pressure should fade gradually, so that the front tyre passes smoothly from slowing the bike to steering it. Snap off the lever and the fork rebounds, the bike runs wide, and the corner speed a 600 depends on is gone. A smooth release needs fingers that can make very small movements, and fingers are most precise when they are neither stretched nor cramped. That is the reason to spend time on the reach. Set the EDF035 so that, at the point where you begin to trail off, your fingers sit at a comfortable angle, neither reaching nor curled into the grip. Many riders on track choose the short blade, which keeps two fingers on the throttle throughout and turns the change from brake to throttle into one continuous movement.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF035 for the GSX-R600 from 2004 to 2019, in two entries, 2004 to 2005 and 2006 to 2019, and it replaces the stock blade on the original master cylinder. The matching ESS035 clutch lever is listed for the GSX-R600 from 2006 to 2019, so owners of a 2004 or 2005 bike will find only the brake side. Black and red are standard only; silver comes standard or short.

Road Approval

No German ABE has been documented for the EDF035, so it is sold for the track.
