DescriptionThe whole story▼
Scramblers end up in car parks that other motorcycles avoid: gravel outside a lake restaurant, a forestry track wide enough for a picnic, the rough ground behind a festival field. A Scrambler 1100 handles all of it, and the rear brake does more of the work there than on any road, because loose surfaces call for a light right foot rather than a firm left hand. Accossato's TS012 is the cap for its rear fluid reservoir, machined in aluminium and anodised in seven colours.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Scrambler 1100
- Accossato lists the model year 2018
- Replaces the cap on the standard rear reservoir
- CNC-machined aluminium, colour applied by anodising
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- Same cap catalogued for a wide range of other machines
- No German ABE on file; listed for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium is machined on CNC equipment and then anodised: that is the whole of the TS012, and the seven colours are blue, green, black, orange, red, silver and gold. Anodised colour lives in the surface of the metal, an advantage on a Scrambler 1100 that gets hosed down after a dusty ride rather than polished by hand. The cap is made for the rear reservoir Ducati fits to the machines on Accossato's list, so nothing else at the rear brake needs attention. The diaphragm under the original cap does, though, at least to the extent of a look; if it has hardened or torn, replace it before the new cap goes on.
Gravel Car Parks and a Light Right Foot
A rear brake used on loose ground earns a check more often than one that spends its life on tarmac, and the dust that gets everywhere is reason enough to be careful about how the reservoir is opened. Clean it and the area around it thoroughly first, then stand the Scrambler 1100 upright on both wheels so the fluid lies level. Lay a cloth over the paint nearby and keep water close, because brake fluid does not forgive a delay on lacquer. Check that the level sits between the marks and look at the colour of the fluid; darkness means age, and age is dealt with by a proper change at the interval the owner's manual gives, not by a new cap. The fluid takes moisture out of the air, so keep the reservoir open briefly and close it again without wandering off. Fit the TS012, tighten it with a light touch, and press the pedal a few times before you ride. On the way out of the car park, one gentle application confirms that everything behaves as it should.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the TS012 for the rear reservoir of the Scrambler 1100 in 2018. It replaces the original cap and leaves the reservoir in place; a machine with a modified rear brake should be compared with that list first. At Inter-Pace this cap is also listed for the Hypermotard 950, the Diavel 1260 and Benelli's TRK 502, which gives a good idea of how widely Ducati and others used a reservoir of this kind.
Road Approval
Test documents for the TS012, an ABE among them, are not held by us, so the cap is offered for racing and competition use.
