DescriptionThe whole story▼
Most people know the MV Agusta F4 from the outside: the slim tail with its four exhaust outlets, the single-sided swingarm, a shape that goes back to Massimo Tamburini's original design of the late 1990s. The rider of an F4 RR sees something quite different, namely a screen, a set of instruments, two clip-ons and two levers. Accossato's EDF099 replaces the lever on the right. It is machined from aluminium, fitted to the original front brake master cylinder and adjustable in its distance to the grip, and Accossato lists it for the F4 RR from 2013 to 2015.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the MV Agusta F4 RR, model years 2013 to 2015
- Fits the original master cylinder in place of the stock lever
- Distance to the grip set by an adjuster near the pivot
- Standard blade of about 138 mm in all seven colours
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange and silver; long blade in blue, gold, green and orange
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, with a black hub
- Rigid one-piece blade, no folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
The EDF099 is milled from a solid piece of aluminium rather than cast. Because a CNC machine repeats the same cutting path for every part, the bore for the pivot and the seat of the reach adjuster end up in exactly the same place on each lever. Anodising follows in two tones. The hub, the section that sits against the master cylinder, is always black; the blade takes the colour you pick. Between the two there is neither a joint nor a spring. This is a fixed lever, so the force of your fingers travels through one continuous piece of metal.
The View Over the Clip-Ons
Once you are tucked in on the F4 RR, your field of view shrinks to a small, very personal picture: the top edge of the screen, the dashboard, the top yoke and the two clip-ons, with the levers reaching out towards your gloves. You see that picture on every ride, and a lever colour you chose yourself changes it more than the size of the part would suggest. A black blade keeps the cockpit as MV Agusta's designers drew it. Silver looks like freshly machined metal. Red, blue, gold, orange or green add an accent that could pick up a detail of your bike's paintwork, if that appeals to you. Whatever the colour, the adjuster does the more important job. Under hard braking your eyes belong on the corner, not on the lever, so the blade has to sit exactly where your fingers land without searching for it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF099 for the F4 RR from 2013 to 2015, where the model appears as F4 1000 RR. The lever takes the place of the standard part on the original front brake master cylinder, and nothing else in the brake system changes. For the left side of the same bikes, Accossato makes the ESH011 clutch lever, also listed for 2013 to 2015 and finished with the same black hub.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the EDF099. We therefore offer it for use on the racetrack.
