DescriptionThe whole story▼
A low-speed slide is often over in a second, and on a Kawasaki Z800 the side it lands on usually pays for it: the footpeg digs in, the gear lever or brake pedal bends and suddenly the bike cannot be ridden away. Many owners use the repair as a chance to change more than just the broken part. Accossato's FT079 rearsets, listed for the Z800 of 2013 to 2016, replace the rider's footrests and controls with an aluminium set that puts the feet further back than the originals.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the FT079 in aluminium to a simple, functional design. The footpegs and the tips of the levers are knurled to improve grip, and aluminium plates shield the heels. Accossato lists the set as adjustable but does not publish how the adjustment is done or how many positions there are. It comes either completely black or black with green details, and it keeps the standard shift pattern.
After the Fall
Once the bike is upright again, the first question is whether it can be ridden. A bent gear lever can sometimes be eased back far enough to select a gear, but a snapped peg or a cracked footrest hanger leaves one foot with nowhere to go, and a damaged brake pedal is nothing to improvise with. Even a small crash deserves a careful inspection afterwards.
Before new rearsets go on, the workshop should check the frame's mounting points for cracks and damaged threads, because no new set can sit properly on a damaged base. It is also worth checking the gear selector shaft on the left of the engine: a hard blow to the gear lever can bend it, and a bent shaft makes any new lever feel wrong. Replacing the stock parts with aftermarket rearsets rather than ordering the same original pieces again is a common choice. No rearset makes a crash harmless, and we make no claim that the FT079 survives one better than Kawasaki's parts would. What it offers is a different riding position, with the feet further back, and knurled surfaces that give the boots a positive grip on the Z800.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT079 for the Z 800 of 2013 to 2016, in both the standard and the ABS version. The set replaces the rider's footrests together with the gear lever and brake pedal, and the shift pattern stays standard. Fitting by a workshop is the right course, particularly after a crash: linkages set up, free play and brake light checked, and all fasteners tightened to Kawasaki's figures with thread lock where specified. Then try the position on the stand before riding.
Road Approval
For the FT079 we have no documented ABE or parts certificate, which means it is not approved for German roads. We sell it for track use.
