One element number covers eight Multistradas, and they are not eight versions of the same use. A 1260 Enduro on a dry piste and a 1260 Pikes Peak on a fast mountain road ask completely different things of the air they breathe, yet the same housing sits under both seats and the same part goes into both. Worth saying plainly: a fitment list tells you the filter will physically go in, and nothing about whether this is the medium you want. The Sprint Filter T12 PM127T12 is the extreme end of the range: a dry polyester special non-woven filtering to 7 microns, made for dust, sand and off-road use.
Key Features
- Dry polyester special non-woven rated at 7 microns of filtration
- 560 l/m²/sec of flow — the narrowest figure in the Sprint Filter programme
- Oil-free from new, and still oil-free after every cleaning
- Original fitment dimensions; the airbox itself is not touched
- Washable, reusable and designed to last the life of the motorcycle
- Two years of warranty beginning at the purchase date
One airbox, eight motorcycles
Sharing an intake across a model family is ordinary engineering and it keeps parts supply sane, but it does put a road-focused Pikes Peak and a long-travel Enduro in the same column of a catalogue. The filter that suits one is not automatically right for the other, and the medium is where that difference gets settled, because it is the only part of the intake an owner chooses. A Pikes Peak with Öhlins under it was built for surfaces where flow is worth more than extreme retention. If that describes yours, the standard P08 is the honest recommendation and this is not.
When the extreme end earns its place
Where it does not describe yours, the case turns around completely. Owners take these bikes to Morocco, ride them behind other people on dry gravel and leave them standing in air thick enough to taste; in that setting a medium rated at 7 microns holds back a fraction the 80-micron P08 weave was never asked to catch. The cost is stated in the same breath: 560 l/m²/sec against the P08 figure of 5,050, roughly a ninth of the air through the same area of material. Finer always means more retained and less passed. It is a trade with two directions, not a ladder with a top, and only the route actually ridden settles which way to take it.
Care and cleaning
A compressor and a nozzle are the whole toolkit: apply the air to the clean face and let the dirt leave by the dirty one. If something stays put, warm water and a mild detergent finish the job, rinsed until the water no longer discolours. Drying is done in open air, without heat and without flame, and it goes back in only when no moisture is left in it. No oil is used before, during or after. The maintenance sheet for the PM127T12 is under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak of 2018 to 2020, going into the unmodified factory airbox in place of the original element. The eight machines it covers run from the Multistrada 950 through the 1200 and 1260 generations to both Enduro models. The full list is in the Fitment tab.
