DescriptionThe whole story▼

Put a passenger or a full set of bags on a Honda CRF250 Rally and the rear brake suddenly has a lot more to do. On loose descents, the rear wheel is often the safer brake to lean on, and on a wet road it steadies the bike before the front takes over. For the rear of the CRF250 Rally from 2017 to 2019, Accossato lists the AGPP181 in the Sintered version, aimed at riders who carry weight and travel in all seasons.

Key Features

  • Rear brake pads for the Honda CRF250 Rally, 2017 to 2019
  • Article AGPP181ST, Sintered mixture on the AGPP181 shape
  • Accossato promises steady grip from cold to hot
  • Holds its grip on a wet disc
  • Suited to luggage, passengers and gravel descents
  • One box for the single rear caliper
  • The OR version shares the shape
  • No ABE documented; for competition and off-road riding

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato describes its Sintered mixture as a pad whose grip stays high and even across low and high temperatures, and one that bites well when wet. For a rear brake that might be cold for an hour on the motorway and then worked hard down a gravel hairpin, that steadiness is exactly what the rider wants from the pedal. Accossato also cites long life, restrained heat and thus limited fade. The pad uses the same AGPP181 backing as the alternative mixture.

Gravel Hairpins with a Full Load

On a loose descent the front tyre can wash out if it is asked to do too much, so experienced riders shift some of the braking to the rear, dragging it gently to keep the bike straight and slow. With luggage on the rack, the rear wheel carries more weight and can take more of that work. A pad that keeps its feel as it warms up makes this technique much easier to control.

Before a trip, check the rear disc for scoring and the pads for thickness. Replace brake fluid if it is old, as it absorbs water and loses performance when hot. When fitting new pads, clean the pistons and the caliper, then pump the pedal until it is firm. Bed them in on a quiet road before loading the bike.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGPP181 for the rear of the Honda CRF250 Rally built from 2017 to 2019, and the AGPA212 for the front of the same machine. The OR version fits the same caliper. Compare the old pads with the new ones before fitting.

Road Approval

No ABE or German approval certificate for the AGPP181ST has reached us. It is therefore sold for motorsport and use away from public roads.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPP181 pads in the Sintered mixture, for the rear caliper.
