DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Leoncino 500 Trail is the Leoncino for riders who keep going where the tarmac ends. Benelli gave it spoked wheels and tyres with a coarser tread, and that invites a detour down a gravel road or a farm track. On loose ground the rear brake turns into a precise tool, used gently and early rather than stamped on. Accossato's TS012 is an aluminium cap for the rear brake fluid reservoir of the Leoncino 500 Trail from 2017 to 2019, CNC-machined and anodised in seven colours.
Key Features
- Cap for the rear brake fluid reservoir of the Benelli Leoncino 500 Trail, 2017 to 2019
- Replaces the cap on the original reservoir, per Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Colours: green, orange, black, silver, blue, red, gold
- Same part listed for the Leoncino 500 and the Ducati Desert X
- Check fitment against Accossato's application list
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The TS012 is cut from aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised, and the anodising decides its colour: green, orange, black, silver, blue, red or gold. Accossato, whose history includes an Enduro world championship title in 1985, designs it to sit on the original rear reservoirs of the bikes on its list. On the Leoncino 500 Trail the brake system therefore stays standard, and only the cap changes. While the reservoir is open, give the original diaphragm or seal a look as well, and renew it if it is no longer supple.
Where the Tarmac Ends
Gravel changes the way a bike is braked. The front tyre has less grip than on asphalt and can wash out if the lever is grabbed, so riders on loose surfaces rely more on the rear brake, applying it smoothly and early and letting the bike settle before a bend. On a Leoncino 500 Trail, the rear circuit therefore works harder on one dusty afternoon than in a week of commuting. Dust is the other issue. It settles on everything around the pedal and the reservoir, and none of it must reach the fluid. Before you open the reservoir, clean the cap and its surroundings with a damp cloth and let them dry. Then work quickly: brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, so the reservoir should be open for as short a time as possible. Hold the bike upright, check that the level lies between the marks and, if the fluid looks dark, plan a change as the owner's manual prescribes, because a new cap is no substitute. Fasten the TS012 gently, rinse any drop of fluid off paint or plastic with water immediately, and press the pedal several times before setting off. It should be firm and consistent from the first push.
Fitment and Compatibility
The TS012 appears on Accossato's list for the Leoncino 500 Trail of 2017 to 2019, fitting the original rear reservoir. Inter-Pace also carries it for the standard Leoncino 500 and for the Ducati Desert X. No other Accossato cap is currently listed for the Leoncino 500 Trail. Before ordering, compare your bike with the application list, and if the rear brake has been changed at some point, look at the reservoir itself.
Road Approval
The TS012 has no ABE or test mark that we could document, so we offer it for motorsport on closed circuits.
