DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha YZ125X is the cross-country version of the YZ125: the same light two-stroke, set up for long races through woods and open country rather than short motocross heats. Cross-country races can run for two hours or more, and by the end the rider's forearms are often the most tired part of the body. Accossato's B8265 is listed for the YZ125X of 2017 to 2022, replacing the standard front brake lever with one milled from Ergal 7075 in Italy, whose blade can swing forward on a joint rather than break when the bike goes down.
Key Features
- Folding CNC brake lever for the Yamaha YZ125X, 2017 to 2022
- Replaces the standard lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Three-finger blade, shorter than Accossato's clutch lever
- Blade folds forward on a joint instead of breaking off
- Machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Blade in black, blue or green; dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road competition
Construction and Material Quality
Made in Italy, the B8265 is CNC-machined from Ergal 7075, the aluminium alloy Accossato chose for a lever that should be strong, light and reliable. The lever is jointed: a dark base stays on the pivot, and the black, blue or green blade attached to it can fold. The blade is short, made for three fingers, as Accossato designs its brake levers. That leaves the little finger free to hold on to the grip, which counts for something when the forearms start to tire.
Forearms in the Second Hour
Arm pump is the cross-country rider's familiar enemy. After an hour of rough trails, roots and whoops, the forearm muscles are swollen and tight, the grip weakens and the fingers lose their precision. Riders fight it with fitness, a relaxed grip, the legs doing the holding on, and a bike set up so the hands do as little as possible. On the brake side, that means a lever positioned so the fingers reach it without stretching or rolling the wrist. By the second hour, a YZ125X rider braking into a tight woods section is working with hands that are far from fresh.
Tired hands make mistakes, and the crash that follows is often a small one: a front wheel that tucks on a root under braking, a slow fall onto the right side. The lever lands first. Because the B8265 is hinged, its blade may swing forward out of the way instead of snapping, which leaves a fair chance of finishing the race with a front brake that works. With an hour still to go, that is not a small thing. The joint cannot prevent every breakage, and a hard enough hit will still bend or break the lever, but a blade that folds gives a tired rider one less problem to solve.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list names the Yamaha YZ125X from 2017 to 2022 for the B8265, which takes over from the standard lever on the factory front brake master cylinder. The folding C7266 clutch lever is listed for the same years. Green is offered only on the brake lever, while black and blue are available on both.
Road Approval
The B8265 has no documented German ABE. The YZ125X is a competition bike, and the lever is intended for cross-country racing and off-road use.
