DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kawasaki introduced the Z500 for 2024 as its A2-friendly twin-cylinder naked bike, and many of the people who buy one are at the start of their motorcycling life. What they learn in these first seasons tends to stay with them, and braking is the habit that matters most. A rider who learns early to brake progressively, with a relaxed hand and a lever in the right place, keeps that skill on every bike that follows. The Accossato EDF025 is a brake lever for the Z500, CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised. It fits the original master cylinder, and its reach can be adjusted.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Kawasaki Z500, model year 2024
- Mounts on the original front master cylinder
- Adjustable reach, adjuster beside the pivot
- Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long blade, depending on the colour chosen
- Seven blade colours, black hub
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Fixed lever without folding joint
- No German ABE documented, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Machining gives the EDF025 an exact pivot bore and a blade profile with clean, deliberate edges; anodising then turns the outermost layer of the aluminium into a hard, coloured oxide that will not chip. On every version the hub is black, which keeps the area around the master cylinder calm, and the blade shows the colour. The lever has no hinge. It is fixed, so the pressure from the fingers passes through one continuous piece of aluminium.
Habits Formed in the First Seasons
Three habits are worth building from the first ride. Use the front brake every time, not only in emergencies, so that it never feels unfamiliar. Squeeze in two stages: a light first touch that settles the bike, then as much pressure as the stop requires. And release smoothly at the end, so the bike does not bob back up on its suspension as it comes to rest. All three come more easily if the lever fits. On the Z500, set the EDF025 so that the blade meets your fingers while your hand rests on the throttle, in the gloves you normally wear, without the wrist bending. A practice session in an empty car park once a month, with a few progressive stops from moderate speed, keeps the skill fresh. The standard length stays closest to the original; the long blade suits riders who want room for the whole hand, the short one those who have settled on two fingers.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Z500, Accossato gives only one model year so far: 2024, under the name Z 500. The EDF025 mounts on the bike's original front master cylinder. No Accossato clutch lever is linked to the Z500 in our range, so this brake lever is offered on its own.
Road Approval
There is no documented German ABE for the EDF025. It is sold for use on the race track.
