DescriptionThe whole story▼

The RS 660 brought Aprilia's sports-bike styling to a middleweight parallel twin, and with a version for the A2 licence it opened the badge to riders who are new to sports bikes. New riders come in every size, and hands are one place where the difference shows at once: a lever that suits a large glove can leave a smaller hand stretching at every stop. The Accossato EDF099 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the RS 660 of 2021 to 2023 that mounts on the original master cylinder, with adjustable reach and three lengths.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Aprilia RS 660, listed for 2021 to 2023
  • Uses the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable to bring the blade closer to smaller hands
  • Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver
  • Standard blade of approximately 138 mm in every colour; long blade in four
  • Anodised, CNC-machined aluminium with black hub
  • Rigid blade, no folding joint
  • No German ABE documented, intended for track use

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF099 is cut on CNC machines from solid aluminium and anodised afterwards. That route gives a lever with even walls, sharp edges and a colour that belongs to the surface itself: black on the hub, which contains the pivot and the reach adjuster, and one of seven colours on the blade. The blade is fixed, one continuous piece from hub to tip, so no hinge adds softness to the lever travel.

Scaled to the Hand

Braking well starts with a relaxed hand, and a hand cannot relax while it stretches. If your fingers only reach the RS 660's brake blade with the wrist tipped forward, the first touch tends to be too sudden, and the hand tires quickly in traffic. Bringing the blade closer to the grip fixes the geometry: the fingers meet it at the first joint, the wrist stays in line with the forearm, and the squeeze can build smoothly from the very first millimetre of travel.

For smaller hands the short blade is often the natural companion to a closer setting. It is shorter overall, so the fingers do not have to spread along a long lever, and it leaves the ring and little finger on the grip, where they help to steady the throttle. It is made in blue, gold, green, orange and silver. The standard length, about 138 mm, comes in all seven colours and is the closest match to the lever Aprilia fitted. Whichever you choose, set it in the gloves you ride in and try it on a quiet road before relying on it in traffic.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF099 for the RS 660 from 2021 to 2023, mounted on the bike's original front master cylinder. The same reference is named for several RSV4 versions, the superbike from which the RS 660's engine layout was derived. For the clutch, Accossato's RS 660 lever is the ESV004, listed for the same model years.

Road Approval

The lever lacks a documented German ABE; it is supplied for closed-course use.
