Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Suzuki GSX-8T (2026) SM245S

The GSX-8T arrives for 2026, which means every one of them on the road is in its first season. There is no service history behind the model yet — no second owner's account of how the airbox looked after three winters, no settled view of how quickly a paper element loads in this particular housing. What exists is a maintenance schedule written before anybody had ridden one through a wet Bavarian spring or a dusty Spanish August. The Sprint Filter P08 SM245S answers that differently: instead of an interval you have to trust, an element you take out, look at, blow through and put back — which turns a guess into a glance.

A first year with no precedent

Service intervals are an average drawn up before the fact. They cannot know whether a given machine spends its life on clean motorway or behind traffic in a city centre, and in a model's first season nobody has the accumulated mileage to correct them. Dealer stock of consumables is also at its thinnest in a new model's first year — a parts network fills in behind demand rather than ahead of it. An element that is cleaned rather than ordered takes that whole question off the calendar: bought once at the start of the motorcycle's life, it is the same part at the end of it.

The medium, plainly stated

The P08 is a single layer of woven polyester, spun from threads of 22 microns and upwards, working dry and never oiled. It filters at 80 microns and flows 5,050 litres per square metre per second over roughly twice the surface of other performance filters; in Sprint Filter's own comparison it held 93.13 per cent of 100-micron test particles where four-layer oiled cotton held 76.42. Finer weaves exist for harder air — P037 at 37 microns, P14 at 14, T12 at 7 — and each step finer gives up flow, the P14 passing 1,800 against the P08's 5,050. A trade rather than a ranking, and for road use the P08 is the standard answer. What it will not do is add power. Nothing fitted inside a standard airbox does, and claims to the contrary are worth ignoring.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air, applied to the clean side of the SM245S and worked outwards, is the service. Should it need more, wash the element in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear.
