Why Two Finishes Cost the Same

Spark prices the dark and titanium sleeves identically, which tells you it is a finish decision rather than a specification one. The silencer, the pipe, the end cap, the weight and the approval are the same part.

What differs is how the case ages. Raw titanium develops heat colour at its leading end over the first thousands of kilometres — a straw and blue gradient that some owners buy the material for and others quietly dislike. The dark sleeve does not do that. On a motorcycle kept for a long time, or one being prepared for resale, predictability has a value that a colour gradient does not.

Dark on an Orange Motorcycle

KTM's colour palette is unusually assertive, and a bright titanium silencer sitting low on the flank competes with it. A dark sleeve steps back and lets the frame and bodywork carry the colour.

The carbon end cap is common to both versions, so the outlet reads the same either way. What changes is the two-thirds of the case in front of it, and on a lateral mounting that is the part at eye level.

Everything the Titanium Version Does

The weight saving is identical: 1.5 kg against the standard 3.3 kg, which is the largest reduction Spark offers on this motorcycle and more than double what the underseat kits achieve. The mounting is the standard lateral position, so the passenger footrests stay and the change is reversible with the original fasteners.

And the approval is the same Euro5 certificate, with no ECU work required. Nothing about choosing the darker finish costs anything except the colour.

Lateral or Underseat

Spark gives Super Duke owners two directions and they are not variations of the same idea. A lateral slip-on like this one keeps the motorcycle's layout, its pillion seat and its reversibility, and takes the most weight out for the least money. An underseat conversion changes the shape of the bike, costs roughly twice as much and saves four hundred grams.

Neither is better. But it is worth knowing which question you are answering before comparing prices between them, because the two products are solving different problems.
