How Öhlins Makes Them
Rates are offered in defined steps, so a change can be made in one direction at a time. Every unit is dyno-tested against the curve held for its part number, not sampled from a batch. Öhlins sets a baseline for each part number on the machine it was developed on, so it works before anything is adjusted.

Choosing 32 N/mm
This is the end of the range where small-bump compliance matters more than resistance to diving. On a machine ridden solo and mostly on the road, softer is often the honest choice. Comfort and grip come from the spring moving early; this is the end of the range where that happens. Ride quality on the road is decided by rate first and damping second.
How a Rear Spring Works
Progressive springs change rate through the stroke, which suits machines with little travel and a lot of load. Rear spring rate sets ride height and static sag, and those two decide the chassis attitude before any damping click matters. Preload adjusts sag within a rate; it does not change the rate, and no amount of it will rescue a spring that is wrong.
Applications
Rather than a model list, use the measurements: a fork that accepts this diameter and length is a candidate, and the rate follows from rider weight. There is no model list for this size because the spring is a dimensional part: it fits whatever fork it physically fits. Öhlins lists no fixed model here — the spring is defined by its measurements, and any fork with matching dimensions can take it.
Installation
Spring preload spacers may need adjusting to keep the installed length correct. The job needs no special tools beyond a fork spring compressor and a measuring rod for the oil level. Oil level is measured from the top of the tube with the fork compressed and the spring removed.
Road Approval
Road approval: springs are not separately type-approved in Germany because they substitute a part that is already homologated with the fork. Model-specific documents, where they exist, are named above.
