The Knox Hot Hood is a full-head balaclava from the Cold Killers line, made for the days when the wind finds every gap between helmet, collar and jacket. It pulls on in one movement, covers head, face and neck, and leaves a generous opening around the eyes so your view through the visor stays clear.
Unlike a thin silk or cotton liner, the Hot Hood is built from a stretch soft-shell with a laminated windproof membrane on the outside and cosy micro fleece on the inside. That combination is what makes the difference on a motorway in November.

Wind protection where it matters
Cold air rarely gets in through the helmet shell; it comes from below, up the neck and around the chin. The Hot Hood closes that path with a windproof throat and a neck section that tucks into your jacket collar. Knox lines the neck area with soft fleece so the seal against the collar feels comfortable and stops draughts rather than funnelling them.
Materials and construction
The outer layer is a stretch soft-shell laminated to a membrane rated 10k by Knox, which blocks wind while still letting moisture from your breath and skin escape. Inside, a micro fleece adds warmth. According to the price list, the material composition is 100% polyester. Flat seams avoid bulky stitching against your skin, and the contoured cut follows the shape of the head instead of bunching under the helmet lining.
Breathing and comfort
On top of the head, where the helmet ventilation sits, Knox has used a soft mesh airflow panel. It keeps the crown from overheating when you stop at traffic lights and lets the helmet vents still do their job. The eye opening is cut wide for good visibility.
What you should know
The Hot Hood is water-resistant and dries quickly, but it is not waterproof. It comes in one size, so with a very snug helmet it is worth trying the fit with the balaclava on before a long trip. As a winter accessory it adds warmth; it is not protective equipment.
Colour: Black
Black is the only colour, and the sensible one: it disappears under any helmet, does not show make-up or sun cream marks quickly and matches every jacket collar. The small Knox branding and a contrast ribbon tape are the only details.
