DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered to eliminate the risk of tank slappers and high-speed wobble, the K-Tech steering damper for the Honda CBR 1000 RR (2008–2019) represents a serious safety upgrade for both road and track. Developed in collaboration with Toby Dampers, this unit combines a lightweight aluminium body with fully adjustable damping to deliver precise, confidence-inspiring steering control across every riding condition.
Key Features
- Adjustable damping lets you dial in exactly the right level of steering resistance for road or track use, giving you full control over handling behaviour.
- Lightweight aluminium construction keeps unsprung weight to a minimum without sacrificing durability or long-term reliability.
- Eye-to-eye mounting configuration with 8 mm upper and lower fixing bolts ensures a secure, rattle-free installation on the CBR 1000 RR frame.
- Mounting hardware is included in the box, simplifying fitment and ensuring correct installation from the outset.
- Fully serviceable design means the damper can be rebuilt and maintained over time, extending its working life well beyond that of sealed alternatives.
- Suitable for road riding and circuit use alike, making it a versatile investment for riders who use their CBR on both public roads and race days.
Safety and Installation
A steering damper is a safety-critical component. The K-Tech unit is designed to prevent the sudden, uncontrolled handlebar movement that can lead to a loss of control at speed. Its precise damping characteristics are set during manufacture and refined through adjustment at installation, which is why K-Tech specifies that fitting must be carried out exclusively by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre. Specialist tools and technical knowledge are required to guarantee optimal performance and safety. Do not attempt installation without the appropriate expertise.
Build Quality and Performance
The 055-55.HO10.08 was developed through K-Tech's partnership with Toby Dampers, a collaboration that brings race-derived damping technology to a direct-fit application. The aluminium body is machined to close tolerances, and the 65 mm stroke with a 250 mm overall length is dimensioned specifically for the CBR 1000 RR mounting geometry. The result is a damper that integrates cleanly with the stock chassis without requiring fabrication or modification.
Fitment and Compatibility
This steering damper is a direct-fit replacement for the Honda CBR 1000 RR across the following model years:
