A Cruiser That Is Not One
Ducati built a motorcycle with a 240 section rear tyre, a low seat and forward-set pegs, then gave it 159 horsepower and a chassis that works in corners. Nothing about the combination should function and it does.
Variable Valve Timing
The 1262 cc Testastretta DVT adjusts both camshafts continuously. It is what lets an engine with this much capacity idle politely in a city and still pull hard from three thousand revs.
A Hundred and Twenty-Nine Newton Metres
The torque figure is what defines the Diavel rather than the horsepower. It arrives almost immediately and it keeps arriving, which is why the bike feels quicker than its numbers suggest.
Housing Only
This part replaces the throttle assembly and leaves the switch block alone. It is the appropriate purchase when the switchgear works and only the moulded plastic is the problem.
A Long Reach to the Bars
The Diavel's riding position puts the hands well forward, which means the wrist works the throttle at an unusual angle. A housing that holds its bore keeps that movement predictable.
Black Anodised
Converted into the aluminium. On a motorcycle with this much visible machined metal already, a quiet cockpit component sits comfortably.
Cut From Ergal 7075
An aerospace grade at roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. It holds a clamping face on the bar indefinitely rather than gradually relaxing.
Ridden a Long Way
Diavels cover distance rather than laps. Years of weather and mileage are what a throttle housing on this bike actually has to survive, and a moulded seam is where that eventually shows.
