Either Master Cylinder
The universal hole pattern accepts both the original clamp and the radial aftermarket units. One part number covers the motorcycle as sold and the same bike after its first brake upgrade.
A Chassis From Above the Class
Cast aluminium with the engine as a stressed member, on an A2 machine. It is the kind of frame that normally appears three price categories higher and it is what the bike is really selling.
Four Hundred and Fifty-Seven Cubic Centimetres
A parallel twin with a 270 degree crank, built to the A2 ceiling and revving willingly to it. Aprilia made the constraint into a design brief rather than an apology.
Where the Cost Shows
Every motorcycle built to a price saves money somewhere, and on the 457 the handlebar controls are one of the visible places. Moulded plastic with a printed legend, and it does the job until it does not.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the aluminium rather than sprayed over it. A scuff dulls the surface instead of exposing bright metal through a chipped coating.
Milled and Sealed
Cut from a single block of Ergal 7075 with the switch elements enclosed. The original is moulded in halves and that joint is the route water takes to the contacts.
A Bike Ridden in Everything
The 457 is usually the only motorcycle its owner has, which means it goes out in weather a second bike would sit through. That is a harder life for switchgear than any weekend superbike leads.
Original Connector
Pre-wired to Aprilia's plug, so nothing is spliced or extended. Two fasteners and one connector and the job is finished.
A Hundred and Seventy-Five Kilograms
Aprilia found the weight saving in the frame rather than in exotic materials, which is cheaper to build and more durable to own. It is why a new rider can manoeuvre the bike without dreading it and why an experienced one still enjoys it on a Sunday morning.
