DescriptionThe whole story▼
Two point three five kilograms. That is what this silencer weighs, and it is less than most 600 cc sportbike parts, on a motorcycle that carries three cylinders, 1,160 cc and a full touring fairing. The standard unit weighs 3.77 kg, so 37.7 per cent of it is gone.
Key Features
- 2.35 kg against the standard 3.77 kg: 1.4 kg and 37.7 per cent less
- Twenty minutes to fit, plug-and-play, no remapping required
- High-grade titanium outer sleeve over a stainless steel inner structure, with a stainless link pipe
- Carbon fibre end cap and a carbon fibre heat shield, both included, the shield sized to protect a passenger's gear
- Fits both the GT and the Rally versions of the Tiger 1200
- Compatible with Triumph's original side panniers
- EC and ECE type approved, certificate supplied
GT and Rally Take the Same Part
Triumph splits the Tiger 1200 into two families. The GT line runs cast wheels, a 19-inch front and road-biased suspension; the Rally line has spoked wheels, a 21-inch front and more travel for genuine off-road use. Above that, the Explorer versions of each carry the larger 30-litre tank. The exhaust mounting is common across all of them, so one part number covers the GT, GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro and Rally Explorer.
Twenty Minutes, and What Was Designed In
Akrapovic states that durability was a development priority alongside throttle response, which on a Rally means the silencer has to survive a life the GT never sees. The same reasoning put the carbon heat shield in the box rather than in the accessory catalogue: on a bike that carries a passenger and gets loaded with soft luggage, an exposed titanium sleeve is a hazard to fabric.
The fitting itself is genuinely short. Unless the bike is wearing its panniers, the silencer comes off at a single hanger and a clamp.
Why the Fitment Stops at 2024
Triumph revised the Tiger 1200 for 2025 with a reworked engine, a longer service interval and changes to the exhaust system. This part covers 2022 to 2024 and does not carry over. If your bike is a 2025 or later Tiger 1200, ask us and we will check what Akrapovic offers for it rather than guess from the model name.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-T12SO6-HJA covers the Triumph Tiger 1200 in its GT and Rally versions from model year 2022 through 2024, and works with the original Triumph side panniers.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificate supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
