DescriptionThe whole story▼
A used Scrambler 800 tells its story through details. The tyres and the chain say how it has been ridden; the small fasteners and caps say whether anyone cared in between. That is worth remembering when a machine is eventually passed on, because the parts that cost least to put right are usually the ones a buyer looks at first. The rear brake reservoir is one of them, and Accossato's TS012 replaces its cap with machined aluminium, anodised in seven colours.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Scrambler 800
- Accossato lists 2015 to 2020
- Café Racer and Desert Sled versions named in the same list
- Sits in place of the original cap on the standard reservoir
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- FP004 and TS003 available for the same machine
- No German ABE held here; a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato turns aluminium into the TS012 on CNC machines and finishes it in blue, green, black, orange, red, silver or gold. The colour comes from anodising, which works into the metal and therefore survives the treatment a low-mounted part receives on a bike that is used in all weather. The cap is made for the rear reservoir fitted to the machines on Accossato's application list, so the rear brake of a Scrambler 800 is otherwise unchanged. Look at the diaphragm under the old cap before the new one goes on; if it has hardened, torn or lost its shape, that is the part to deal with first.
Handing the Bike On
Whether you sell the machine next spring or keep it for another decade, the work is the same and takes an evening. Stand the Scrambler 800 upright on both wheels so the rear reservoir lies level, and clean the top of it and the area around it before anything is loosened, since dirt on that surface goes straight into the circuit once the cap is off. Protect the paint nearby with a cloth and keep water within reach, because brake fluid marks lacquer quickly. Check that the level sits between the marks, look at the colour of the fluid, and find out when it was last renewed. Fluid takes up moisture from the air over the years, which is why the owner's manual sets an interval in time as well, and a bike with modest mileage is not exempt. Fit the TS012, tighten it lightly and evenly, and press the pedal a number of times before you ride. A new cap on old fluid looks after the wrong half of the problem, so do both if both are due.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list runs the TS012 for the rear reservoir of the Scrambler 800 from 2015 to 2020, with the Café Racer and Desert Sled versions named alongside. The cap replaces the original and the reservoir stays in place. Should the rear brake have been modified, check the application list before ordering. At Inter-Pace the same part is listed for the Hypermotard 950, the DesertX and Benelli's Leoncino 500. Accossato completes its range for this bike with the FP004 oil filler cap and the TS003 front reservoir cap.
Road Approval
We have no ABE and no test document for the TS012 on record, and it is listed here accordingly for racing and competition use.
