DescriptionThe whole story▼
The three-cylinder engine of the Yamaha MT-09 powers more than a naked bike. Accossato's list for its DK077 disc includes the MT-09 itself from 2013 and the Tracer and Tracer GT touring models built on it, many of which spend their summers crossing the Alps with cases and a passenger. For all of them the DK077 is a floating front disc from Accossato's Elite line, listed from 2013 to 2025: 298 mm in diameter, 5 mm thick, with a 132 mm bore and a black carrier.
Key Features
- Floating Elite front disc for the Yamaha MT-09, listed 2013 to 2025
- Also named for the Tracer (2021 to 2023) and Tracer GT (2018 to 2025)
- 298 mm × 5 mm, 132 mm bore
- Original-equipment thickness, according to Accossato
- Black carrier; rivets carry the Accossato logo
- Minimum working thickness printed on the ring
- One disc per purchase; two sit on the front wheel
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's Elite discs keep the thickness of the part they replace, which on the MT-09 means 5 mm, and can be recognised by the logo on their rivets. Those rivets join the friction ring to a black carrier with a controlled amount of play: the ring floats, expanding with heat while the carrier stays true. Accossato says it learnt how to set that play, and which materials to choose, in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3. The minimum working thickness is printed on the disc, because a disc worn too thin may break under severe load.
Downhill With Cases and a Passenger
A long pass descent is among the hardest jobs a road bike's front brake faces. With luggage and a pillion aboard, an MT-09 or Tracer GT carries far more mass than on a solo ride, and every hairpin asks the discs to turn that energy into heat. Riders who drag the front brake all the way down can overheat pads and fluid; the lever then creeps towards the bar and the stopping power fades. A better technique is to let the engine do much of the work in a lower gear, brake firmly and briefly before each bend and release the lever completely on the straights so the discs can cool in the airflow. The rear brake helps to steady the bike in tight turns. If you plan a second descent, give the brakes a few minutes to cool at the top. After a summer of mountain touring, check the discs for wear, particularly on a Tracer GT that has covered long distances.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK077 for the MT-09 from 2013 to 2025. The list shows the MT-09 from 2013 to 2021 and the ABS model from 2021 to 2024, the Tracer from 2021 to 2023 and the Tracer GT from 2018 to 2025. Every one of them brakes the front wheel with two discs, and the price covers one. Alongside it, Accossato offers the DKS073 for the same machines, a disc of equal size for which the supplier also publishes the hole pattern. On the controls side, Accossato lists the EDF016 brake lever for the MT-09.
Road Approval
The DK077 has no German ABE and no documented type approval. We supply it for track riding.
