DescriptionThe whole story▼
Owners of a Ducati Panigale 899 who look for new front discs from Accossato find two candidates, and the DKS035 is the more elaborate of them. It belongs to the Elite line: a floating disc with a 5.5 mm friction ring, a black carrier and the Accossato logo on the rivets that join the two. Fitted to the front wheel of the Panigale 899, it takes the place of the original disc and slows a sporting twin from speed, on the road or on a circuit.
Key Features
- Elite-line floating front disc for the Ducati Panigale 899, listed for 2014 to 2015
- Friction ring 5.5 mm thick, as the supplier specifies for this disc
- 320 mm outside diameter, 72 mm centre bore
- Black carrier; Accossato logo on the rivets
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- One disc per order; the Panigale 899 has two front discs
- No German ABE on record; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
In the Elite line Accossato sets the friction ring at 5.5 mm and marks the rivets that hold it to the black carrier with its own logo, which is the quickest way to tell an Elite disc from the standard range once it is on the bike. Those rivets let the ring float. It can shift a fraction against the carrier as it heats and cools instead of forcing the whole disc to distort. According to Accossato, the clearance between ring and carrier and the choice of materials are the result of careful study, and the low weight of its discs pays off when the bike is turned into a corner. The disc measures 320 mm outside and 72 mm at the centre, and like every Accossato disc it has its minimum working thickness printed on it.
Two Accossato Discs for One 899
The other candidate is the DK053, a standard floating disc with the same outer and inner diameters, a thinner ring and plain rivets, which Accossato lists for the 899 of 2014 and 2015. Choosing between them is less a question of figures than of how the Panigale 899 is used and how long you plan to keep it. A rider who covers most kilometres on the road and does the occasional track day may be well served by the standard disc. Someone who has turned the 899 into a dedicated circuit bike, or who simply wants the Elite finish with its marked rivets, is likely to lean towards the DKS035.
Whichever you choose, keep both sides of the front wheel matched. The Panigale 899 carries a disc on each side of the wheel, and fitting one Elite disc next to a standard one would leave the two calipers working on rings of different thickness, which is not a sensible combination. Plan for two discs of the same type, fit new pads with them and allow a short bedding-in period before the first fast ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the years 2014 to 2015 for the DKS035 on the Ducati Panigale 899 and lists it in place of the original front disc. The price shown is for one disc, and a full replacement on the twin-disc front end takes two. Before removing anything, compare the 72 mm centre and the 320 mm diameter with the disc on your bike.
Road Approval
This Elite disc has no documented German ABE and no type approval on file, so we list it for racetrack and competition use.
