DescriptionThe whole story▼
Even a naked bike like the Speed Triple 1050 carries small fairing panels around the frame rails, just enough bodywork to need protecting when the bike visits a wash bay rather than a proper garage. Coin-operated wash bays mix wet concrete, a pressure hose, and a floor that often slopes towards a central drain, and a bike balanced on its side stand mid-wash is more exposed than most riders realise until a boot slips on the suds. Accossato lists the TP043 crash pads for the Speed Triple 1050 across 2011 to 2018.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Triumph Speed Triple 1050, 2011 to 2018
- Accossato TP043, two pads in the pack
- CNC-machined aluminium body
- Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Screw cover available in the matching colour
- PF028 front axle sliders also listed for this bike
- Ask us before ordering whether drilling is needed
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the TP043 body from aluminium and fits an anodised insert in a choice of six colours, with a matching screw cover offered as an option. The pack holds two pads. On a Speed Triple 1050 parked on wet, sloping concrete, they are there to be the first thing that meets the ground if the bike slips off its stand, which can reduce the damage to the frame and the panels close by. A pad that has taken a hard knock will show it, and should then be replaced.
Slipping in the Wash Bay
A pressure washer makes short work of road grime, but it also turns a wash bay floor into one of the more slippery surfaces a Speed Triple 1050 will ever stand on. Suds and run-off collect around the drain, and the slope that carries water away also tilts the ground under the side stand, sometimes just enough to matter once the bike has been dripping for a few minutes. Standing water hides oily patches left by other vehicles, and a boot that slides while leaning in to clean the wheels can easily knock the bike off balance. Wash with the bike on firm, level ground away from the main drain where possible, and keep the hose pressure down near the stand itself. If the Speed Triple 1050 does go over in a wash bay, the crash pads take that first contact; dry the bike off and check them, along with the mirror and lever, before riding home.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the TP043 for the Speed Triple 1050 from 2011 to 2018, and our listing follows those years. The same code is also catalogued in our shop for the Speed Triple 1050 R. At the front, the PF028 sliders are available for this bike. Accossato notes that drilling the fairing is required on some motorcycles for these pads, so please ask us before ordering whether that applies to your Speed Triple 1050.
Road Approval
No ABE or test mark is on file for the TP043, so we offer it for racing and competition use.
