DescriptionThe whole story▼
A racing compound is honest about what it wants, and what it wants is heat. The first two corners after leaving the pit lane on a Hyperstrada 939 are therefore a small ritual rather than a race: a couple of firm applications in a straight line, a moment spent noticing how the lever answers, and only then a proper lap. Accossato's AGPA177 in the EV2 racing compound is the front pad for owners who take the 2016 to 2018 Hyperstrada 939 to circuits often enough for that ritual to be automatic.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Hyperstrada 939, model years 2016 to 2018
- AGPA177 shape in the EV2 racing compound, article number AGPA177EV2
- Accossato's racing material, in the same outline as the road versions
- Two pads per box; the front wheel of this bike has two calipers
- Wants to be warmed up before it is asked for anything serious
- ST and EV1 versions suit riders whose circuit days are occasional
- AGPA42 at the rear, DK053 and DKS053 as the listed discs
- No German ABE documented; racing and track use
Construction and Material Quality
This is the material Accossato puts forward for racing, and the company says little beyond that. What can be set out is the trade-off every compound of this kind carries. It is built for repeated heavy work and it is at its least impressive in a cold car park, so the rider who accepts the second half of that bargain is rewarded with a front brake that does not drift away in the last third of a session. The body underneath is the ordinary AGPA177, shared with the road materials, so nothing about the caliper or the fitting alters. Two pads per box.
The First Two Corners of a Session
Warming a brake is not the same thing as warming a tyre, although the two happen together. Two or three deliberate applications on the out lap, each finished before the bike leans over, put heat where it is wanted without asking a cold front tyre for grip it does not yet have. On a Hyperstrada 939 there is a second reason to bother: the machine is tall and its fork has plenty of travel, so the first firm stop of the day tells you a great deal about how far the front will move under you later on. Riders who skip the step generally spend three laps learning the same lesson by accident.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list covers the Ducati Hyperstrada 939 from 2016 to 2018 and puts the AGPA177 on the front wheel, where two calipers mean two boxes. The AGPA42 is the rear pad for the same period and comes in more than one material. DK053 and DKS053 are the discs Accossato catalogues for this bike. For an owner whose circuit days are rare, the ST or EV1 versions of this front pad are the more sensible purchase.
Road Approval
Nothing in our paperwork approves the AGPA177EV2 for public roads: no German ABE, no comparable foreign document. Racing and track riding is what we offer it for.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two Accossato AGPA177 pads in the EV2 racing compound, the set for a single front caliper.
