DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin owners enjoy their bike most on a twisting back road on a dry Sunday, riding briskly and braking late into the bends. A few even take the big twin onto a racetrack for an open day. For these riders Accossato offers the front set for the CRF1000L Africa Twin of 2016 to 2020 in the EV1 street/track compound, a mix the company developed for sporty road riding and amateur circuit days.
Key Features
- EV1 street/track front pads for the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin, 2016 to 2020
- Accossato: strong grip for road riding and amateur track use
- Aimed at the ambitious rider on dry back roads
- Suitable for a first trackday on the Africa Twin
- One box per caliper; the front has two calipers
- OR and ST versions available for the same position
- No German ABE on record; intended for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes EV1 street/track as a compound that offers high grip for road riding and for amateur use on the track. It is aimed at a rider who brakes harder and later than the average commuter and wants the pads to keep up with that pace. Like all Accossato pads, the EV1 set is designed for durability, strong deceleration and limited heat build-up, which helps against fading after a series of hard stops.
From the Back Road to the Circuit
A dry mountain road ridden at a lively pace is where an EV1 compound starts to make sense on the CRF1000L Africa Twin. Repeated firm stops ahead of each bend heat the pads and discs, and the rider expects a lever that stays firm to the end of the road. Those who take the Africa Twin to a trackday should prepare it: fresh brake fluid, pads with plenty of material and a check of both front discs for wear. After the session, let the brakes cool while riding a slow lap rather than holding the lever at a standstill in the pit lane.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this front set for the CRF 1000 L Africa Twin of 2016 to 2020, the DCT version and the Adventure Sports of 2018 to 2020. The front wheel has two calipers, so two boxes are needed. For the rear, Accossato names the AGPP246 from 2016 to 2020 and the AGPP88 from 2016 to 2019. Fit both front sets together so both sides bite the same way, and bed them in carefully before pushing hard.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE or test documentation for the EV1 pads, so they are offered for motorsport and trackdays.
