DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few corners unsettle riders like an off-camber turn, where the ground falls away from the direction the bike wants to lean. On a Husqvarna FC 450, which arrives at every corner with plenty of speed, the front brake has to be used with real care there, because the tyre has less grip than instinct expects. The B8283 from Accossato replaces the brake lever of the FC 450 from 2014 to 2022. CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, it has a short three-finger blade on a joint that can fold forward if the front washes out.

Construction and Material Quality
There are two pieces to the B8283. The base, in a dark finish, stays on the pivot of the original master cylinder; the blade, in black, blue or orange, is carried by the joint and can fold away from it. Accossato cuts both from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, on CNC machines in Italy. Its reasoning is that a lever made this way can be strong without being heavy, and reliable too. On the brake side the blade is short and shaped for three fingers, which is the layout Accossato uses for all its brake levers in this range.
Off-Camber Turns
On an off-camber turn the surface tilts towards the outside, so a bike leaning into the corner fights the slope as well as the turn. Grip is limited, and it is most limited at the front while the brake is on. Riders who get through cleanly usually do their braking before the turn, with the bike upright, then roll through with the front brake barely touched and their weight on the outside peg. With the torque of the FC 450, the exit is the easy part; the entry is where things go wrong.
When they do, the front tyre slides towards the low side and the bike goes down almost at once. If the slope falls away to the right, the brake lever is the first part to reach the ground, and on a big four-stroke it lands with considerable force. A solid blade can snap cleanly at that point. The B8283 is designed to let its blade hinge forward instead, which gives it a chance of coming through the fall usable. Whether it does depends on the angle and the ground, but a lever that can fold makes it more likely that you lift the Husqvarna and ride on to the end of the moto.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's listing covers the Husqvarna FC 450 throughout 2014 to 2022, including the version groups 2014 to 2015, 2016 to 2021 and 2022, with the B8283 fitted to the original front brake master cylinder. The clutch side depends on the model year: the C7283 is listed for 2014, 2015 and 2022, the C7284 for 2016 to 2021. Only the C7283 can be had in red; black, blue and orange are common to all three.
Road Approval
The B8283 has no documented German ABE. Like the FC 450, it is intended for motocross and closed off-road terrain.
